There is so much to do in Townsville, and better still there is a lot to do that is free, yep that’s what I said FREE! There is military history to explore, as well as, indigenous, civic and the history of Townsville women, to name but a small piece of Townsville history. The Strand has a water playground and there is a free swimming pool. Art galleries, street art, a free movie night and plenty of walking trails.
Townsville has embraced the street art mania that is spreading through cities worldwide! It has a vibrant street art atmosphere with stunning art and huge wall murals.
Hong Kong is not know as a budget destination, however there is a multitude of things to do that are free, or at the very least cheap, that makes visiting Hong Kong viable even for the most budget conscious travellers. The Peak look out, museums, street art and yummy dim sum… Hong Kong does have cheap ways to explore!
Hawke’s Bay, on the east coast of New Zealand’s North Island, is actually New Zealand’s oldest wine region with a history beginning as early as 1851. The area has a temperate climate, and being one of New Zealand’s warmest and driest regions it is perfect for producing the award winning wines it is famous for. Hawke’s Bay is known predominately for Bordeaux style reds, Chardonnay and the famed Gimblett Gravels.
Street art has come along way from simply being graffiti, tags and the like. Most cities now boast some form of street art, many having beautiful wall murals. This popular form of artistic expression has become increasingly popular. Furthermore, as a tourist attraction the open air galleries, large public displays and annual street art festivals are bringing in the tourists!
Port Adelaide has been transformed into a giant, outdoor gallery as result of the 2015 and 2017 Wonderwalls Street Art Festivals. Wonderwalls is a 3-day mural festival that has been held in Wollongong and Port Adelaide (Australia) several times over the past few years.
As we entered the museum it was like stepping back in time. We were staring at a large ketch from the 1800’s and hearing all the sounds of the daily action in the port. Seagulls squawked, bells tinkered, and sailors called back and forth to each other….. There truly is a wealth of information at this museum. I would not hesitate to recommend the South Australian Maritime Museum, it was really a lot of fun as well as very interesting. There is a lot of Port Adelaide’s, and in fact South Australia’s, history packed within these galleries!
I would not hesitate to recommend this as a fun activity, for groups, couples, individuals, children’s birthday parties and definitely for tourists wanting to have fun and see some sights (great views from the upper level). I also think it is a safe way to conquer your fear and an awesome way to test your strength, agility and ability for those wanting to challenge themselves.
